Privacy policy
If you do not sign in, no name and no email is collected. Sign in only if you want your records carried between devices.
1. What is collected
Play records are collected anonymously to see where people stop and which choices come up often. This is everything that is sent.
- Session id · eight random characters, new for every browser tab. Not tied to a person.
- Progress · which day, which event appeared, which option was chosen
- State summary · cash, reputation, bowls sold that day, ending and score
- Timestamp
These records are stored in Supabase. They contain no IP address, device identifier, location, or advertising id.
1-1. Visit statistics
Google Analytics (GA4) may be used to see visitor counts and where they arrive from. Separately from the game records above, it collects:
- Which pages were visited and for how long
- How you arrived (search, a link, typed directly, and so on)
- Approximate region, device type, browser
- An anonymous identifier assigned by Google (a cookie)
Google uses the IP address while processing but does not store it. For details see how Google uses data on partner sites. If you would rather not be counted, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
1-2. Submitting to the leaderboard
Pressing submit on the result screen stores the following on the server. If you never submit, nothing is stored.
Once you have submitted a name, it is kept in your browser and later runs are submitted automatically. To stop, open Change name on the result screen, clear the name, and submit.
- The name you typed (up to 12 characters; left blank it shows as “No name”). Your Google account name is never used
- The run’s seed and the order of options you chose
- Ending, score, days survived, regulars, reputation
- The country you connected from (a two-letter code), shown as a flag on the leaderboard. No IP address is stored; the country is read straight off the request the server receives
The name is public on the leaderboard. Please do not use your real name or contact details. The order of choices is stored so the score can be recalculated on the server. These records are stored in Supabase.
1-3. Signing in
Signing in is optional. Every feature works without it, and your records stay in the browser. Signing in with Google stores:
- Your Google account identifier and email address · held in Supabase auth
- Current run, codex, discovered endings, best score · stored against your account
This exists so you can continue on another device, and is used for nothing else. No marketing email is sent. Signing out disconnects this browser; to delete your account and everything stored with it, write to the address below.
2. What is not collected
- Phone number, date of birth, address
- Payment details (there is nothing to pay for)
- Contacts, photos, file access
- Name and email of anyone who has not signed in
3. What is stored in your browser
The current run, codex, discovered endings, and best score are kept in localStorage. Clearing browser data clears them too. The session id lives in sessionStorage and disappears when the tab closes.
If you do not sign in, these values never leave your browser. If you do, the same values are also stored against your account so you can continue elsewhere.
4. Advertising
This site may use Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads, under Google’s own policies. You can turn off personalised ads in Google ad settings. For details see Google’s advertising policies.
5. Processors
- Vercel · deployment and hosting
- Supabase · play records, leaderboard, authentication, saved game records
- Google · sign-in (OAuth)
- Google Analytics · visit statistics (where used)
- Google AdSense · advertising (where used)
6. Retention and deletion
Play records are used only to improve the game and are deleted once that work is done. Records from players who did not sign in contain nothing that identifies a person, so deleting one specific person’s records is not possible.
Accounts and the game records tied to them can be deleted. Write to the address below and your account, saved runs, codex, and leaderboard entries will be removed.
7. Children
This game is not directed at children under 14, and personal information is not knowingly collected from them.
